Experimental and Numerical Analysis on TIG Arc Welding of Stainless Steel Using RSM Approach

This study involves the validating of thermal analysis during TIG Arc welding 1.4418 steel using finite element analyses (FEA) with experimental approaches. 3D heat transfer simulation stainless arc is implemented ABAQUS software (6.14, Inc., Johnston, RI, USA), based on non-uniform Goldak’s Gaussian flux distribution, additional DFLUX subroutine written in FORTRAN (Formula Translation). The influences current and speed density, weld bead geometry, temperature distribution at transverse direction are analyzed by response surface methodology (RSM). Validating numerical dimensions geometry consists width depth penetration an average 10% deviation has been performed. Results reveal that suggested model would be appropriate for process. According to results, as increases, residence time shortens correspondingly, decrease subsequently, whilst simultaneously, reverse effect. Finally, multi-objective optimization process applied Derringer’s desirability technique achieve proper weld. optimum condition obtained 2.7 mm/s scanning 120 A full minimum fusion zone (FZ) heat-affected (HAZ) width.
